For what it's worth, I'd just like to give a shoutout to someone I don't know very well, but am proud that he's from my town: Brian Mariano. This kid had a HUGE article written about him in the local newspaper today because he was 1) recognized by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association as the #1 diver in the nation for 2002. 2) He's going to the best division I diving college in the U.S., Indiana University. And last, and best of all, he was nominated for an ESPY Award for Most Spectacular Play of the Year, competing against Derek Jeter and James Allen (Chicago Bears) in the same category. July 10 is the award ceremony that he will be attending (in Hollywood, no less) and I can guarantee that most of Naugatuck will be watching it, to see how our little All-American Diver/Flip-thrower Soccer Player shine in the spotlight (hopefully!). That's my story of the day. Pretty unbelievable, huh?

Finished < Pride and Prejudice > today. I loved it. Now I'm having the worst time figuring out what to read next. In the mean time, I'm chillin' out because it's hot....and as my luck would have it...I'm back to not being used to it.

Just thought I'd share that I finished my second day of work as a teacher's aide (both days with the same kindergarten classes), and I am dealing with the psycho-child much better than I had expected. Granted Mrs. G. said that today was his best day in 6 months, but I'd say that's still an accomplishment. This is especially because I hadn't been around this many children at once since I was one of those children. Very strange. Also very strange that I'm working with teachers who used to teach me. Ack!

The bonus was that I got to chat with Cathy (T-bone) yesterday and today. She's all excited about her wedding. It's so good to see her all happy.

Tonight's events include a visit to the Shulick residence to drop off a grad gift for Christy and a B-day card for Bubba. It'll be nice to see that fam, since I don't think I've seen them all together in well over a year. Then I am perhaps going out with Kacy. We will play things by ear....call if you wanna chill :-D

It's Saturday, which means the I've been finished with school/exams for 8 days....and it's only now that I feel I'm starting to recover. Granted I also had that 25 hour car ride to recover from, but I'm actually starting to feel almost normal. Being home is a whole other story....

So far I like being home. Right now I have things to do, people to see, errands to run, and I'm starting a job on Monday....I just hope that last one isn't hell on earth.

This past week (post-road-trip) has consisted many reunions. I had lunch with Kacy on Wednesday afternoon and we got to chat. I hung out with her and Danielle (whom I had not seen since August) at the mall (errands) and Cosi Thursday night. Last night I got together with Kirsten and Matt T. for a movie and some limited sharing of the semester's stories. I really need to catch up on a lot more with K--we have a much-needed trip to B&N for tea, chatting, and book-hunting for more summer reading. Today I spent the day with Matt. We went to see Unfaithful (rather depressing, but I must say extremely realistic in some of its raw portrayals of human behavior) and picked up a pizza.

Tomorrow is Mothers' Day, and, at Mom's request, I bought her a gift card to B&N. Since it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow, my day will consist of my never-ending unpacking of boxes and the cruel labor of reorganizing my entire room to fit the insane amount of accumulated garbage from the semester into it. For a break, I'm going to pick up my 5 rolls of film that I have been waiting to bring home to develop. These range from Winter break to a bit before jazz fest. I'm sure I will have quite a few surprises, including some drunken shots from Becca's visit. I get so excited about these things.

Well, I'm off to read my book, since I haven't really had much "chill-time" since I set foot in CT. Current book: To Kill A Mockingbird.
Current Mood: relaxedrelaxed
